My relationship with tofu has been complicated for years …it was a love hate relationship.
But now…it’s only love , big love!! When you know how to cook tofu . It’s done . You can do whatever you want . It’s cheap, easy and really good. Like those satay.
Took me 15 minutes to prepare and about 25 minutes to cook in the oven .
2 Blocks of Firm press tofu .
Cut each block in 6 strips
Marinade :
- 4 TBSP of soya sauce
- 1 TBSP of maple syrup
- 1 TBSP of peanut butter
- 1 TBSP of Sambal Oelek
- 1 TBSP of Sesame oil
- garlic and onion powder ( 1 tsp of each)
Put the tofu into the marinade for at least 30 minutes
Preheat the Oven at 425 F.
On a baking tray, line the tofu . I always use parchment sheet to make sure it doesn’t stick. Cook each side 12-15 minutes .
Remove the tofu from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before skewering them on the sticks.
Peanuts butter Sauce :
- 1 TSP of garlic crushed
- 1 TSP Sesame oil
- 2 TSP of red curry paste
- 1 TBSP of Soya sauce
- 1\2 cup of Coconut milk
- 1\3 cup of peanut butter
- 1 lime squeezed
Mix everything together .
The red curry and the coconut milk make the difference . its so good mixed together .
The trick for the mixture to be smooth ; Put 1 cup of water in the microwave for 3- 4 minutes . Slowly add it while mixing until it’s smooth . Taste and seasoned .
I don’t like to put my peanuts sauce on the heat . I prefer mixing boiled water to make sure my peanut butter doesn’t cook too much and stay smooth as I wish.
Serve with a lot of Cilantro, lime and peanuts 🙂
Everybody’s gonna love it .
